Team Formation and Select Team Overview

Teams are formed by the Norwalk Soccer Club Board. It is our intent to keep players together from season to season with age as a guideline. A soccer year comprises 2 seasons beginning in the fall and ending in the spring. Players may choose to play only one or both, but once a player skips a season he/she are not guaranteed placement with a previous team. When a team reaches capacity, the number of seasons played with the club and the date a registration was submitted may become a deciding factor. Requests for specific coaches or teams will not be granted. A parent may request for a player to move up in an age bracket or for siblings to play together. Requests may or may not be honored and must be done in writing during the time of registration and submitted to the registrar before the registration deadline and will not be considered after team formation has been completed. •Requests can be made in the notes section during the online process or can be sent to the registrar@norwalksoccer.org. Girls may request to play with all girls, however if not enough players from that age group sign up, placement will be made on a coed team.
**If a majority of a team is aging up in play and your child does not meet the standard age requirement for the team, the player's parent may request his/her child play up with that team. As noted above, this request will be evaluated and determined by the Norwalk Soccer Club Board.

Age divisions shall be comprised of players who, prior to the first day of August of the current seasonal year, are:
Under 19 years of age - 16,17,18
Under 16 years of age - 14 and 15
Under 14 years of age - 12 and 13
Under 12 years of age - 10 and 11
Under 10 years of age - 8 and 9
Under 8 years of age - 6 and 7
•Levels of Play
Teams are formed according to the Iowa Soccer designated levels of play. There are three types of play designated as level 1-3. More information regarding the levels of play can be found on the following documents provided by Iowa Soccer. Levels of Play Rules and Levels of Play FAQ's
•Practice Schedules:
Team practice schedules are not determined until registration is closed and the Director of Coaches has assigned practice slots. Practices are held on Monday - Thursday and Tuesday-Friday assignment blocks with the times assigned based on the number of teams. All practices are held at the Norwalk McAninch Sports Complex.
•Game Schedules and Locations:
Game schedules are determined after divisional placement from Greater Des Moines Junior Soccer League and West Des Moines Soccer Club (WDM for U8). Coaches will supply all players with game dates, times and locations. Games are played on Saturday (morning & afternoon) and Sunday afternoon or by special arrangement of the coaches for makeup games. Home games are played at the Norwalk McAninch Sports Complex with the exception of U7-8 teams which play on West Des Moines fields.
•Uniforms:
All returning players from the the Fall 2009 season should have the current club uniforms. New player or replacement uniforms can be ordered from Soccer Connections. The cost of a uniform set (2 Shirts, Shorts, and Socks) is approximately $35.
